Second, special instructions on "6063 aluminum foil"
The commonly used material of aluminum foil is usually 1xxx series (such as 1050, 1060, 1235) or 8xxx series (such as 8011, 8021), because of its higher purity and better ductility, suitable for rolling into ultra-thin foil (thickness ≤0.2mm). 6063 aluminum alloy is rarely used in aluminum foil production due to the following characteristics:
Processability limitation
6xxx series alloys need to obtain strength through heat treatment (age hardening), and aluminum foil needs extremely high rolling ductility, 6063 in the annealed state although there is a certain plasticity, but not as 1xxx series.
When rolling ultra-thin foils, high alloy content can lead to cracking or surface defects.
Application scenarios do not match
Aluminum foil is mostly used in packaging (food, medicine), capacitors, heat insulation materials, etc., requiring high flexibility or conductivity, and the strength advantage of 6063 is not significant in this scene.
For high-strength foil, choose 2xxx or 7xxx series instead of 6xxx series.
Possible misunderstanding
Users may confuse "aluminum profile (6063)" with "aluminum foil", or have custom requirements for 6063 foil in some special needs scenarios (such as specific industrial uses), but such applications are extremely rare.
3. Potential scenarios for using 6063 aluminum foil
(Assuming special custom requirements)
Application field
Need light weight and a certain strength of the heat sink (such as LED lamps);
Substrates for special electronic components (corrosion resistant and surface treatable).
Processing technology
The grain structure should be controlled by multiple annealing and cold rolling.
Final annealing to improve ductility.
limitation
The thickness is difficult to reach the 0.006mm level of traditional aluminum foil (possibly as low as 0.1mm);
The cost is high and the market supply is scarce.
Fourth, the common aluminum foil vs the hypothetical 6063 aluminum foil comparison
Characteristic 1xxx is aluminum foil (e.g. 1060) assumed 6063 aluminum foil
Thickness range 0.006-0.2mm May be ≥0.1mm
Tensile strength 50-150 MPa (soft) 120-180 MPa (annealed)
Very high ductility (suitable for deep stamping) medium
Typical uses packaging, capacitors, daily necessities special heat dissipation, structural support
Low cost
V. Summary
Conventional aluminum foil is recommended to choose 1xxx or 8xxx alloy;
6063 aluminum foil is a non-standard product, need to be customized and limited application scenarios, may be used for special industrial needs;
If you need high-strength aluminum foil, consider other alloys (such as 5052, 3003, etc.).
